SS25 HIDDEN BLOOM
When audiences watch a TV show or performance, they often focus solely on the main character in the spotlight, overlooking the significance of supporting characters. However, the effectiveness of the main character's narrative and attributes relies heavily on the contributions of these supporting roles. Recognizing this interdependence, my theme aims to highlight the vital importance of supporting characters through the medium of fashion. By creatively designing garments that symbolize and elevate their presence, I hope to draw attention to their role and encourage viewers to appreciate the richness they bring to storytelling. This exploration seeks not only to celebrate these characters but also to evoke a broader conversation about the collaborative nature of narratives, urging audiences to recognize and value the often unseen contributions that enhance the overall viewing experience.
I explored various artworks and photographs in which artists and photographers aimed to invert the traditional hierarchy of importance within their images, thereby emphasizing alternative aesthetics. To enhance the sense of reversal in my own work, I employed collage techniques, creating compositions by combine fashion trimmings and tailoring techniques that make this juxtaposition more pronounced and visually impactful.
